Summary:
The Network Infrastructure Manager leads the team responsible for the design, operations, and security of the company’s network and core infrastructure. This role ensures reliable connectivity and secure access across locations by maintaining and optimizing network, server, storage, telecommunications, and monitoring platforms. The team also supports technology used for physical building security and serves as a technical authority on networking, cloud services, and endpoint computing.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Manage daily operations of network and security platforms, including administration, documentation, upgrades, troubleshooting, and user support.
- Design and evolve infrastructure to support new applications and technologies; ensure maintainability and operational readiness.
- Provide 24x7x365 monitoring, alerting, and incident response using enterprise management and security tools.
- Develop, maintain, and test incident response and disaster recovery plans.
- Oversee deployment, integration, and configuration of new and enhanced cyber and physical security solutions.
- Supervise, coach, and evaluate assigned staff; set priorities and ensure service levels are met.
- Lead infrastructure and security projects from planning through implementation and transition to operations.
- Partner with IT Services to identify, prioritize, and resolve network issues impacting business operations.
- Communicate root causes and preventive solutions to improve overall network health.
- Track and report performance against KPIs; implement proactive measures to minimize outages and improve reliability.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and platforms for fit, risk, and business value.
Minimum Skills and Qualifications:
- Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience managing a network/infrastructure team.
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems/Technology (or equivalent practical experience).
- Hands-on experience designing, implementing, and supporting enterprise LAN/WAN/WLAN, VPN, virtualization, and monitoring/security tooling (e.g., SIEM and threat monitoring).
- Strong expertise with network hardware (routers, switches, firewalls, wireless) including design, installation, and troubleshooting.
- Working knowledge of current networking protocols/standards and common enterprise platforms (e.g., Cisco, VMware, Microsoft).
- Experience with enterprise security architecture and incident response practices.
- Ability to travel to branch locations on short notice; valid driver’s license required.
- Availability for after-hours support as needed (evenings/weekends).
- Preferred
- Relevant industry certifications (e.g., networking, security, cloud) are strongly preferred.
- Experience with structured cabling, MDF/IDF design, and data closet standards.
- Demonstrated people leadership, coaching, and performance management skills.
- Clear written and verbal communication; able to explain technical concepts in business-friendly terms.
- Strong organization and prioritization skills; able to operate effectively under pressure and during incidents.
- Analytical, customer-service oriented, and collaborative.
- Understands organizational goals and builds strong relationships with leaders and key stakeholders.
Physical Requirements:
Primary work is performed in an office and data-center/branch environments. Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods; use hands for keyboarding and tools; and occasionally bend, kneel, reach, and work in tight spaces (e.g., inspecting cabling in ceilings/floors and equipment racks). Must be able to lift and move equipment such as computers, peripherals, and network components. Noise levels range from quiet office settings to moderate/loud in shop or equipment areas.
