How Make-Up Air Heaters Work

While they heat spaces, make-up air heaters eliminate stale or trapped air that can pose moisture and product storage issues. Striking a balance between the amount of air your exhaust systems remove and the amount of air your make-up handler introduces is vital to keeping air pressure and temperature well-regulated. When you achieve the right ratio of exhausted air to introduced air, your systems will perform better, your building will be more comfortable, and the indoor air quality will increase.

First, the unit connects to a fuel source. The fuel enters the combustion chamber, where it meets the flame. The modulating burner then fires up and matches the ratio between the two with the necessary oxygen to produce heat. Once the burn makes heat, a belt-driven blower disperses the air.
