JOB SUMMARY:
The Electric Power Generation (EPG) Sales Representative is directly responsible for Caterpillar Electric Power Generation sales and associated power distribution equipment.The candidate must have prospecting and sales experience with product-specific technical knowledge related to generators, transfer switches (ATS & MTS), switchgear, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), and emergency power system design.Supports Ohio CAT’s Power Systems Sales growth strategy, revenue targets, and margin goals within the Northeast Ohio territory—position based in Ohio CAT’s Broadview Heights headquarters location outside of Cleveland.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or related field preferred
- Experience: 3-5 years of proven business development or sales experience in standby power applications, power generation, or related electrical industry experience. Dealer and Caterpillar products experience preferred.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in reading written engineering specifications and electrical one-line system diagrams is required. Strong aptitude in mechanical, power systems, and electrical engineering concepts is preferred.
- Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, demonstrating professionalism and responsiveness
- Market Expertise: Ideal candidates possess standby power and/or energy transition application expertise with technologies such as microgrids, combined heat and power (CHP), battery storage, and electric vehicle (EV) charging.
KEYCOMPETENCIES:
- Business Development: Drive power systems sales growth by building relationships with vendors, electrical consultants, contractors, and other prospective customers in the power systems industry,
- Sales Targets: Responsible for developing and implementing sales strategies to meet or exceed sales and profitability objectives, including complete sales opportunity pipeline: lead generation, qualification, proposal, negotiation, and closing.
- Proposal Preparation: Review incoming engineering specifications and prepare proposals and quotations addressing customer needs. Provide technical assistance for customers regarding product specifications and applications that provide accurate solutions tailored to their needs.
- Sales Tools: Maintain accurate sales and customer pipeline activity records in CRM software.
- Collaboration: Work closely with external stakeholders and internal project managers to ensure the successful deployment of customer projects
- Market Expertise: Stay updated on Caterpillar product and power systems industry trends to demonstrate thought leadership and educate customers on power solutions, product features, and benefits.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight; to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard, and to verbally communicate to exchange information. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet in office settings and moderate to loud in other situations, with both constant and sudden loud noises possible. Must live or be willing to relocate to work from the Cleveland Power Systems location. Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
